Quality & Value

Stainless Steel Sinks are an obvious choice for any Kitchen because of their great look and easy maintenance. Once you decided on an Undermount or Overmount model, the next thing to consider is the quality of the sink you’re purchasing. Gauge is an important factor (see next paragraph) but also look for additional features like sound deadening pads and a manufacturer guaranteed warranty before making your purchase.

Metal Gauge

For a ‘strong and silent’ sink – the lowest gauges are best!  16 & 18 gauge steel will provide you excellent durability and are ideal for connected use with a garbage disposal.  Higher gauges like 22 are considerably cheaper than the lower gauge sinks, but are prone to denting and do not hold up as well over time.  Additionally because of the vibration, higher gauge sinks are not ideal for pairing with garbage disposal units.

Get a Friendly Depth

6 Inch basins are abundant in the market and very affordable, however they tend to splash easily and cannot hold much.  8+inch basins are ideal for kitchen use and will give you an ample amount of space to wash and store dishes.

Accessories

When purchasing a stainless steel sink, always take into consideration the accessories which are available to pair with your model of sink. Drain opening size can vary with different sink models, so be sure to take note when choosing the appropriate drain for your sink.  Additionally, some homeowners prefer to have bottom basin sink grid accessories in order to store dishware and avoid scratching their sink. If this interests you, make sure the supplier offers grids for your exact model of sink before you make your purchase.

Those who opt for stainless steel sinks will have the peace of mind of knowing that their sink will stay beautiful for years –even with minimal cleaning!
